Description

The Biomaterials Engineering group of Professor Xiao-Hua Qin (D-HEST, ETH Zurich) is recruiting thesis students to explore ground-breaking research in synergy with his ERC Starting Grant project. The main task is to design and synthesize novel photoresponsive linkers and hydrogels for fast direct laser writing in the presence of cells via two-photon lithography for challenging applications in tissue/organoid engineering and 4D bioprinting. Students with experiences in (organic/inorganic) synthesis and the motivation for interdisciplinary biomedical engineering are strongly encouraged to apply.

For application, please include the following documents:

  • Motivational Letter
  • CV
  • Transcripts of Records (TOR)
  • Contacts of 2 references

We look forward to receiving your application and welcoming you to join us to explore cutting-edge cross-disciplinary research. Interested? Please feel free to contact for a meeting and lab tour.

About Biomaterials Engineering

The Biomaterials Engineering (BME) group belongs to the Institute for Biomechanics of the Department Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST) at ETH Zurich. BME is a member of the ALIVE | Advanced Engineering with Living Materials initiative as well as the Bringing Materials to Life consortium (BML) of ETH Zurich. Our mission is to design, synthesize and engineer cell-instructive biomaterials with tailored physical and chemical properties for the advanced manufacturing of living systems.
