Job description & skill development

We are offering a MSc project position under the supervision of Dr. Josep Mas-Roselló within the lab of Prof. Helma Wennemers at LOC (https://wennemers.ethz.ch/the-group/people/mas-rosello.html). This project is focused on the development of novel molecular catalysts to perform essential chemical reactions in a more efficient and sustainable manner.

As part of this project, you will acquire expertise in state-of-the-art techniques in organic synthesis, including:

(i)            Catalyst design and synthesis

(ii)           Molecular analysis and mechanistic understanding

(iii)          Reaction design and method development

In addition to honing your practical lab skills, you will have the opportunity to cultivate valuable transferable skills such as data analysis, problem-solving, and teamwork. We will encourage and support your research ideas, fostering your scientific knowledge and refining your professional communication skills through regular one-on-one meetings with the supervisor, as well as participation in weekly lab meetings and organic chemistry exercises.

Your profile

We are looking for a highly motivated, committed, and curious student who enjoys working in a young, interdisciplinary, and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate should possess a BSc degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, chemical biology, or related field. Previous lab experience is preferred, as well as fluency in English.
